Depth of lens hood required for 82m dia 50mm lens?

I'm working on getting my Canon 50mm f/0.95 for use on the M8. I think a hood is a must for such a lens (I know it is for my Canon 50/1.0). But the last Canon Hood for this lens went for almost 500 dollars on eBay. I've been looking at both B+W and HeavyStar's hoods but can't figure out what dept I need for such a 50.

Any body know how one calculates optional hood depth or a good rule of thumb?

I know some RKI here must know or at least have a strong opinion on the subject. :)

The maximum length of the hood will depend on the diagonal angle of view of the lens and the position of the entrance pupil of the lens relative to the front of the lens. With that information (I don't have it), you can dust down your trigonometry and calculate it.

I've been looking at alternatives for a Noctilux hood, and tried a Nikon hood which attaches fine but is too flared and blocks the rangefinder at close focus. With 82mm, I don't think you'll be able to see a thing.
