atufte Posted October 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed shooting with my new Zeiss lenses, that i seem to much less prone to IR, is this the case or, am i just imagining things...? (maybe something to do with the coating of the Zeiss lenses maybe..?) See example, this jacket has be shot numerous times with my Leica lenses, and shows out as magenta as it gets, very syntetic indeed, but was very surprised to say at least after returning from tonight's last walk with the dog... :-)
Advertisement Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi atufte, Take a look here Zeiss lenses less prone to IR...?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnastovall Posted October 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2007 Foggy, damp, maybe misting night with a mercury vapor street light, I would think that's a very low IR environment. Maybe there's just not any IR to sense? It would be interesting to see that same lens shoot the jacket under incandesent light with a strong IR component. sean_reid Posted October 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2007 The lenses don't really have too much of an effect on IR but lighting, as John mentioned, certainly can. Cheers, Sean
jonoslack Posted October 24, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 24, 2007 Lovely shot Alexander. I've just succumbed to filters on everything, and stopped thinking about IR. as I said - lovely shot.

Kent10D Posted October 25, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hope you're not waiting for a Leica 43-mm filter for your Zeiss lens(es), because it won't fit properly! Other sizes are fine. IR response is no different. I have the Zeiss 25, 35, 50 Sonnar and 50 Planar, and they all deliver lovely magenta blacks without filters. So I have filters on all of them. B+W filters for the 43-mm size.
