wparsonsgisnet Posted October 24, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) On ReidReviews, there is the beginning of a review of the new 2.5 Summarit lenses. This is preliminary info and Sean is awaiting delivery of production lenses. Â Those who are anticipating purchasing any of the four new, less-expensive lenses will want to read the upcoming review. Apparently, all 4 lenses will cost less than $1,500 apiece.

andybarton Posted October 24, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 24, 2007 Are you on commission, Bill? Â
sean_reid Posted October 24, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted October 24, 2007 Hi Andy, Â No he isn't but he really should be. <G> Thanks Bill. The article I just published covers physical things (feel, control action, viewfinder blockage, etc.). Optical things next as soon as the *production* lenses reach me. Â Cheers, Â Sean
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 24, 2007 Author Share #4  Posted October 24, 2007 Are you on commission, Bill?  Yes, Andy, I only pay 30-something for my subscription.  Actually, for some reason, Sean keeps reviewing things I'm not interested in, so I get even and don't post info about those. I always wondered what all those other things in the camera store cases were.
sean_reid Posted October 24, 2007 Share #5  Posted October 24, 2007 Yes, Andy, I only pay 30-something for my subscription. Actually, for some reason, Sean keeps reviewing things I'm not interested in, so I get even and don't post info about those. I always wondered what all those other things in the camera store cases were.  It's the great balance of the world. I have a number of subscribers who are not RF photographers and 2007 has been a year for many things M8 and RF on RR. Not to worry, there will still be lots of RF stuff but I also want to give some attention to other kinds of cameras, lenses, etc. Some DSLRs are worth looking at, as are some small sensor cameras, etc.  Cheers,  Sean
lxlim Posted October 25, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted October 25, 2007 Just renewed my subscription. Â Thanks, Sean. Your site did much to convince me to get the M8 (just got it a week back). Guy Mancuso and other thoughtful contributors added much to my decision. Â My M8 on the way to Solms, none of the existing stock of M8s will focus correctly on any long lens (90f2, 90f2.8 and 135 f3.4) available except for the 21mm and the 28mm f2. Â Bought the M8 anyway as the back focusing was consistent for all the cameras and every lens. If I have to send it in I may as well send in everything ; ) I figured if Leica makes a mistake so consistent I trust that the corrections will be consistent. Â I am seriously considering the summarits as it is the perfect economical solution for a budget limited professional and look forward to your review. LOL Â Guy, Well, I certainly would have done a lot of PR except that I couldn't go and I knew that you'd fill to the limit, anyway. Â I am enjoying the shots from the lucky (and smart) attendees. It *almost* feels like I was there....... Â I echo the thanks to you, above, and add my regular, periodic thanks to all the monsters here who have improved my pic-taking. As they say in prefaces to books, the thanks go to the monsters and the errors are all mine. Â The improvements to my electronic darkroom (can't just call it my lightroom anymore since that is now the name of a product), are immense and due to help from many here. I'm glad that its been useful and am sorry to hear about your focus troubles. I've got a good feeling about the Summarits.  Cheers,  Sean
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 30, 2007 Author Share #10 Â Posted October 30, 2007 BTW, I didn't *even* mention the out-of-focus section he posted in the RF review. Â It *was* interesting to me, but I figured the zillion subscribers already knew about it. Â So, I'll post some stuff about me: Â I'm planning on taking some pictures Real Soon Now, as soon as I finish fooling around with Lepoard. This stupid software made the airport card in my G4 disappear. Â Who thot of this digital photog stuff, anyway? (S)he better watch her/his back crossing the street!
