Sunyforreal Posted February 1, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey everyone, so I’ve started to have an extremely frustrating issue with my M10M. When I received the camera a few months ago it worked perfectly but slowly and consistently the start up time has gotten longer and longer until now where it will basically flash SD in the viewfinder for several minutes, if not indefinitely until I grow frustrated and just turn it off. At first I thought it was a firmware issue so I updated it last weekend. After I updated it worked perfectly that day, but then threw the same issue the day after. I was using a SanDisk 128gb 200mp/s SD card and I’ve since picked up a 32gb 100mp/s SD thinking that may help the issue. Just inserted it into the camera and it’s been flashing SD for the past 10 minutes. Is there anything I can do on my end to resolve the issue or am I going to have to send it out to get repaired? This issue is really pissing me off as I’ve only had the camera for a short period of time and it was expensive enough as it is. Would rather move on and continue shooting film if issues like this are common with digital Leicas. Just venting frustrations. Please advise!
Advertisement Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Hi Sunyforreal, Take a look here M10 Monochrom flashing SD for several minutes. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Sunyforreal Posted February 1, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted February 1, 2023 UPDATE: after turning off and on again, it started up in about 4 seconds with the new card. The issue is intermittent. Is this a PCB issue? I’ve used a blower to make sure there is no dust in the SD slot blocking the connection.
unclejace54 Posted February 1, 2023 Share #3 Posted February 1, 2023 This from the quick start guide for the M10M as far as SD cards are concerned. SD cards 1-2 GB / SDHC cards up to 32 GB / SDXC cards up to 2 TB I was using a 64 Gb card and it was causing the camera to lockup. Went to a 32 Gb with no issues so far. make sure you format the card in the camera. We don't need big cards with this camera.

I’ve got a 32gb sandisk in the camera now, but still having the same issue. As surprising as this sounds, I’ve found slapping the bottom of the camera a few times like an old TV gets it to work sometimes. I think it’s an issue with the mating surface on the camera side. ramarren Posted February 2, 2023 Share #5 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) I use a fast Lexar 128G SDXC card in my M10-M (bought new last April) and have had no problems with it at all. This problem sounds like a poor connection between the card cage and the logic board in the camera ... I'd send it to Leica for evaluation and repair. There's nothing 'user serviceable' in that interface. G Edited February 2, 2023 by ramarren

May continue slapping the bottom for the camera for a bit while I prepare my wallet.
