Advertisement Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi Woofer, Take a look here coding C/V 15. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thai.charlie Posted October 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2007 I used black and white nail polish. Scratched off excess with a credit card. Got the tips by searching pvs posts here.
doubice Posted October 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2007 I've just recieved a Jim Milich adapter for the C/V 15 , any advice on how to do the coding? Thanks Leslie Leslie, I think you wanted to find out how to code the lens, not with what... If that is the case - code it like the WATE (Wide Angle Tri-Elmar). With the coding recesses facing you and at 12:00 o'clock, code it white/black/white/white/white/white. If you have the latest firmware in the camera, set it to Lens Detection On + UV/IR. Once you switch the camera on, you will be asked to choose between 16mm, 18mm or 21mm settings - pick 16mm. If you wanted to know what to use for the coding - I used model railroading paint. Matt black and white, preferably water based, it is a lot easier to clean up. That's it. Best, Jan
Woofer Posted October 24, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks Charles and Jan , you've both been a great help , Glad I don't have to buy the black and white nail polish (joke) Thanks Leslie
gesper Posted October 24, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2007 I used black nail polish and only did the blacks (leaving the white ones empty). Works fine.
doubice Posted October 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2007 I used black nail polish and only did the blacks (leaving the white ones empty). Works fine. I tried that too but, had problems on some lenses. Once even the white recesses were filled, problems were gone. Best, Jan

I used black-only on a CV 15 and CV 25 and both worked perfectly from the first time I tried them.
doubice Posted October 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 24, 2007 Must depend on how bright the brass is on the adapter itself. Correct - my observation too. The one lens I had most problems with was the 2.8/135mm Elmarit. I had to paint the white areas twice to get the lens recognized. Sometimes, when using older Leica LTM to M adapters (the correct ones without cut-out), there can be a small amount of light leakage around the mount which may affect the coding. The Leica adapters have a tiny ridge on the camera side which, under certain lighting conditions, may allow some stray light to hit the 6-bit sensor in the camera. The Milich LTM8 adapters do not suffer from the light leak issue as their camera mating area does not have this ridge. Best, Jan
chris_p Posted October 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 24, 2007 In case it happens to you: On some cameras the WATE Menu 'sticks' and remains accessible after the coded CV 15 has been replaced with another lens. The camera works normally and often self-corrects at a later date. Strange but true.
