Paepke in Dusseldorf, Germany, https://paepke-fototechnik.de/service 2. Will van Maanen from Hollandhttps://www.kamera-service.info/index.php/de/ 3. Jo Geier from Viennahttps://www.jogeier.com All experiences are good with those 3 companies? Price? Delivery time? any comment? Thanks a lot in advance! You are helping me a lot. Al Brown Posted January 31, 2023 Share #24 Posted January 31, 2023 As @jaapv said in post #19 Mr. van Manen is out due to spinal surgery and his website indicates that it takes 6-8 weeks for work to be done at the moment. I have had good experience with him (one time). I have had no experience with Paepke. I have had good experience with Jo Geier (several cases). Welcome, dear visitor! Telemetric Posted February 14, 2023 Author Share #25 Posted February 14, 2023 At the end, I sent it to Mr. Paepke. Communication has been great and the web is clear and concise and the service PDF is also very good. The camera just arrived to Paepke. I will let you know about price and everything. Mikep996 Posted February 16, 2023 Share #26 Posted February 16, 2023 "Apparently the frame preview lever has to be moved regularly to keep it in shape, similar to the shutter that has to be fired regularly." No mechanical device works well unless it is regularly "exercised." Non-use is the worst thing for mechanical things.
Telemetric Posted February 23, 2023 Author Share #27 Posted February 23, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good night, At the end I sent it to Paepke. They sent me today an email and... bad news: Quote Enclosed you will find a repair quotation for the faults you have indicated in your Leica M6 TTL. As a further complaint, we have found that the exposure meter does not work reliably. The circuit board shows moisture damage. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to repair the light meter. The damaged component is no longer available. Welcome, dear visitor! Repair the virefinder and make the CLA and use it like is? The problem is the seller does not want me to give the cam back saying that I picked it up personally and the lightmeter worked (and is true, it works but as you can see this is not the problem)... So I think I will repair the viewfinder and make the CLA and use it how it is but, what do you think? What a bad luck with my Leicas! First problems with my M10-P which I bought new and now this!.... Fotoklaus Posted February 24, 2023 Share #28 Posted February 24, 2023 At the moment the meter does work, and the CLA will give you a perfectly adjusted and overhauled shutter and viewfinder. This is the most improtant thing an a Leica M, in my opinion. I would do it.
Telemetric Posted February 24, 2023 Author Share #29 Posted February 24, 2023 To be honest, I don’t need the lightmeter. I use old cams all the time without it and I know how to expose well without lughtmeter so… yes, I think I will do it. Now we will have new lightmeters for a lot of years so…. If it breaks then I will change it.
BradS Posted February 24, 2023 Share #30 Posted February 24, 2023 I too would have the camera overhauled and use it. Please let us know how it all turns out.
