Arc in M8 images

Robert, that's a good point, I'm wondering whether there's a light leak through the shutter at a point which follows an arc as the shutter opens. Keep in mind the sensor is switched on, then the shutter is opened, so if there is a light leak through the shutter, it will show up as a pre-exposure.

Also, the mode of operation of the shutter changes at 1/250, so can you corelate this effect with the shutter speed?

Hi there. I did go outside in the rain yesterday with my M8 with a silver UV/IR filter attached to the lens. And did I get an arc. Do I have a problem? LOL. But this one "might" be a natural one! Anyway, good luck solving the problem, it will be very interesting to see what you guys find. I on the other hand suspect there is nothing wrong with my shutter!

Mark--Thanks for following up on Robert's point. Indeed, all the images I've found that show the arc are shot above flash-synch speed, and most are well above.

One more thing just struck me:

The arc appears only in horizontal frames, not in vertical, even when the lighting attributes are the same, i.e. sun in the same physical part of picture.

Am still analyzing; will probably soon try experimenting. ;)
