Point of a q2m-d would not be a screen that folds away but none at all! While we are at it, could do away with video features too.

Having it hide away would only add complexity. Taking it away would potentially allow for a simpler more robust camera.

Yeah, would love one on a Q3. More useful than a D-Pad imho. I take many shoots from below the waist in portrait mode. I guess everyone’s usecase is different so preferences may vary.

Yeah, and scratch the EVF as well. I prefer Optical view… oh that’s another Camera.

Canon consumer DSLR

Canon introduced the flipscreen in their Pro and Prosumer cameras mainly with the R line. R3, R5, R6 all have it. They sell much more entry level dslrs so I‘m not surprised they are easier to break. But yeah, I can see how for some

This would be the conclusion. Preferences vary.

I like the EVF. Forcing cameras to be hybrid stills/video devices has to involve compromises. Even just removing the mic and speaker holes would surely simplify the build.

As soon as you forgo the optical viewfinder you have basically a videocamera. The EVF gets a constant video feed, so the bandwidth is already there. To remove video capabilities per software would be dumb. Don’t use it if you don’t need it. It’s not like Leica puts a huge „Record Video“ button on its camera.
