Jack_Flesher Posted October 22, 2007 Share #41 Posted October 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guy, or others, any propensity to flare in the IV like there is in the ASPH? Actually surprising --- the IV doesn't seem to want to flare at all...
Advertisement Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hi Jack_Flesher, Take a look here I'm a believer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Philinflash Posted October 22, 2007 Share #42 Posted October 22, 2007 Here is a pair of further examples (thanks, Richard of Zeiss). http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=58732&stc=1&d=1193082823 http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=58731&stc=1&d=1193082823 These illustrate a different kind of problem. You might be able to see that there is a blue circle (not snot) under Richard's right nostril in the 35 ASPH image but not in the Zeiss. Also, there is noticably more flare from the background lights in the Leica lens than the Zeiss lens. Welcome, dear visitor! Jack_Flesher Posted October 22, 2007 Share #43 Posted October 22, 2007 That blue spot under his nose is flare of some type... You might want to inspect your lens for haze as even a barely visible amount can cause similar results. Shine a bright light through the rear and inspect the inner surfaces. garyvot Posted October 23, 2007 Share #44 Posted October 23, 2007 Yes, but is it any good at f/8?
Jack_Flesher Posted October 23, 2007 Share #45 Posted October 23, 2007 Yes, but is it any good at f/8? If you are referring to resolution across the field, at f5.6 I doubt you could tell it from either Asph Cheers,

Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 23, 2007 Share #49 Posted October 23, 2007 Yes he did strike again. I really like what he has done on his lens designs. Now i need to code this. I would assume Leica can code this for me. I was a really bad boy this week. I tried a Zeiss 18mm of Alan's and I ordered one from Hong Kong, just when I went to order it Tony was out but I did like the feel of it and figured buy it, try it and see if i like it syndrome would work. I also had the Zeiss 15mm with me on loan and yet another striking lens and worth considering but for the moment I will pass but if someone is looking to buy one. The owner, a forum member is selling it and i can put you touch with him. I went through a little lens shake up this week in the wide area

I've never experienced anything like that with my 35 ASPH, even under much more difficult lighting conditions. Larry
