For those of you who use the CV Nokton 35 f1.2 on the M8 with an IR Cut filter and 6-digit lens code, what code do you use? I think I remember Sean Reid writing that the code for the Summilux 35 ASPH does not work well (does not give the Nokton a full correction for cyan corners). Has anyone tried the Summicron 35 (ASPH or pre) code? Does it make sense to try the Noctilux code? Has anyone tried that? Thank you for sharing any experience you have on this matter. (I'd rather find the best code than use any software corrections, such as Corner Fix.) Tom P.

I've only had my 35/1.2 for a couple of days and don't have my 52mm UV/IR yet so I can't give you personal experience of the coding & cyan/vignette correction but Sean's conclusion is that it's a problematic lens to code accurately, hence the recommendation to use software correction. Using the Summilux coding over corrects at certain apertures and ditto Summicron coding isn't perfect either.

If you want the full skinny and examples on this then here's another shameless plug for Sean's site. For the modest subscription it's full of helpful material about these lenses.

Btw, it's a fun lens. CA is a little high I've noticed in typical blooming conditions and I've found it useful to mount a Leicagoodies Steer on mine to assist with the focusing range and control. (No doubt to the horror of some members here who seem to believe that any accessories beyond Leica's basic configuration are heresy). Likewise I use it with a hood hat over the LH-3 extended hood. Size & weight don't seem as bad as the reviewers would make out but I'm probably a little biased as I'm a DSLR shooter also so everything seems lightweight when I use the M8. :D
