SoCalLeicanator Posted January 18, 2023 Share #1  Posted January 18, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I even surprised myself by choosing the SL2-S as the next step in my Leica journey after they pulled the plug on the CL. Mathphotographer on Youtube convinced me that this might be a good solution and help the evolution of my photography. I'm especially sold on using M glass in a robust body that can take some abuse. Now, I have a problem.  There is the 24-90 which I will likely get eventually but looks way too unwieldy for daily use. There's the whole 24-70 Sigma/Leica controversy. (spoiler: I would just get the Sigma) Are there any other zoom recs people can make. I'd be curious about the Lumix 12-60 and their 24-70 2.8. What are the essentital Sigma primes? Thanks in advance.
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Hi SoCalLeicanator, Take a look here I did the thing and need help now (lens recs. . . ). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted January 18, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted January 18, 2023 24-90 is a good lens, especially in studio for flexible portraits, 70mm is not long enough many times. this lens has IS that works on all SL bodies. It is big and heavy and optical weakness at 90mm where it is softer by few %. it is good in the rain. 24-70 is lighter, good performer, the zoom ring turns different direction from other Leica lenses. sigma and Leica version very similar, and is an introductory 2.8 lens for Leica. not many different has been found between the two lenses, some materials. The Leica version offer the linear MF function. Lumix 12-60 is not a lens for this camera, it is for smaller sensors. Lumix 20-60 is a super light lens. small and ok optically. the glass offers highness images often better then the Leica M lenses ( I have only tested 21mm SEM )Â Many Panasonic lenses are to optimized for image quality but give more importance to video performance ( MF focus and focus breading correction on S1 cameras) Most of the time they are still very good, but often are softer in the corners of the frame until you stop down a little. so Sigma 24-70 is a good option.

I don't think so, Â that is dedicated to Leica lenses. the firmware from Sigma lenses is made by sigma.
