c6gowin Posted October 20, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2007 The WATE is great. You are going to love it. I highly recommend you get the Milich filter adapter if you haven't already. Mark Gowin

Hacker Posted October 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2007 Please tell me how the Milich filter would improve the CS enhanced image as seen above? If you use the stock filter, you cannot use the hood as you will need a step-up ring. If you get the Milich adapter, you will be able to use both the filter and the hood, but the filter you will need is 49mm. I have been waiting for more than 2 months now for the filters to arrive from Solms, and have since changed my order to include 1 E49 filter. Do a search, it convinced me to get the Milich adater. c6gowin Posted October 21, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 21, 2007 The Milich filter holder is, in my opinion, the best method to mount an UV/IR filter. If you are only shooting black and white, then you may not need to use a filter or adapter. If you are shooting color, then you will most likely want to use a Leica UV/IR filter to compensate for the IR sensitivity. I used my WATE for a few weeks without a filter (cause I couldn't find a 49mm filter) and only a few captures noticably displayed the IR sensitivity problem.
