filcasolo Posted October 18, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear friends, I'm very concerned about too much DOF with D-Lux2 camera;how would you suggest to cope with this problem in general and with regard to portraits in particular? It seems to me that the issue had been already discussed in this forum, but I can't find its position anymore. Want anybody return on this topic? Thanks Filippo
Advertisement Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Hi filcasolo, Take a look here DLux 2 and DOF. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
miami91 Posted October 18, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 18, 2007 Not much can be done --- it's a small sensor camera. But you can try to shoot at the tele end (useful for portraits) and at fully open aperture. If this causes you to hit the max shutter speed, a neutral density filter could be employed. Â Jeff. miami91 Posted October 18, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted October 18, 2007 Whoops. Just realized you were asking about the D-Lux 2 --- I read it as a Digilux 2 question. So forget about the filter suggestion, given that there's no thread on the D-Lux lens barrell. Although I seem to recall there's some sort of filter gadget for compact point and shoots that some people have experimented with... Â You're really pretty much stuck with very deep DOF with a small sensor point and shoot, although many people use this to their advantage (Mitch Alland's black and white photos come to mind).
