This is Mesquite Flat Dunes in Death Valley at sunrise last Thursday. The day before was windy, which has the effect of erasing footprints from the dunes, so many of the ridges and faces were pristine. 35mm Summicron with red filter.

Death Valley is a great location for monochrome photography. At many of the best locations (Badwater Basin, sand dunes, Rhyolite ghost town) there's not much color to begin with, and the subject matter lends itself to compositions with light, shadows and strong graphics.

Self antidote to M10M, who needs it when the M246 (The Fat Boy) can still do the work 😉

"The Fat Boy." I like that. Yes, even if it's now a previous generation camera, it's still a really fun and capable one.

Glad you agree. Some people want us believe that with emergence of M10 thin camera the M240/246 is somehow obsolete, diversion from true Leica spirit.  I used M9, M240 and now M246, also have film MP, I can hardly notice difference in handling between Fat M246 and slim film MP,  yes there is a difference in thickness, I put Vernier callipers to bases plates of the two.  Big positive, difficult to beat juicy M240/246 battery.  The EVF is dismal but that is RF camera first and foremost.
