Walked around Harvard University today with my M246 and 28 Cron. Heavy processing that not all will like. Criticism always welcomed.

Love the camera. The highlights are much more robust than the MM1. I can be much sloppier with exposure.

I went back to my hometown in north Mississippi last week, unfortunately to attend a funeral.  I haven't been back there for quite a few years, and I was saddened to find that the funeral could have just as well been held for the town.  Ashland, Mississippi, which was and still is, the County Seat of Benton County is a stark reminder of the general decline that is happening to small towns all across the South.  Communities, such as this one, which were once thriving with a variety of family-owned businesses located on the main square around the courthouse, have been eviscerated by big box stores and internet shopping.  I recall, as a young boy, going to town with my father on a Saturday afternoon, catching a western movie at the local theater, purchasing a double scoop of ice cream at the local drug store, and then catching up with my father, who would have been finished his shopping for the few things we didn't raise on the farm - sugar, coffee, flour, and other staples.  I could usually find him having a bowl of chili and a cup of coffee at Jetty's Cafe, but if he was not at the cafe, he was likely to be holding court with other local farmers at the hardware store.

The old courthouse is no longer the courthouse, because the County does not have the funds to maintain it.  What was once the anchor that held the town in place is yet another poignant reminder that few things are permanent, and that time relentlessly extracts its toll.

Both of the following images were taken with the M246 with Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar (15mm, f/1.4).

A handful from the past few weeks. Had a few days of super cold days near a record low (~ -16F) and limited sunshine. But I always get excited that the new year has begun and we start seeing noticable gains in the amount of daylight now that the solstice has come and past.

Chainlink snow!

I've walked past these maybe a hundred or so times on my regular route, but this is the first time I've ever seen them. Guess it was the low angled light that brought them to my attn.

Tree growing on the edge of a cliff growing into the prevailing wind direction. It was so windy this day I was tearing even with glasses on my face.

Thanks for sharing. Reading about your memories of your hometown and childhood memories was very nice - and memories like these will always be with you to cherish. It's equally sad to hear of the demise of place and we hear the same stories in my own country. People move to the bigger towns to find work and opportunities and many small towns and villages are left with more or less only retired people.

Anyway, here's a photo I took on the way back from work today and is a typical alleyway of the area where I work.
