Thanks. I think the latest Leica M cameras can record the aperture used to take a picture, but it is only an estimation, in my experience mostly wrong.

M lenses have no electronic connection with any M body, so it’s only an estimate.  Here’s more info from one of many hundreds of similar questions…

I really like the concept of my M246, it's like going back 55 years when I was using my father's III F with Ilford HP4

An out-of-context thought...
I think Leica missed the opportunity to completely revamp the "Leica M EV1" concept.

It should have included an image stabilizer and added electronic contacts for focal length and aperture.

It would have been a revolution for lenses and bodies for the next 100 years.
