October is turning to be a very wet month here in UK, last few days were particularly rainy and local flooding is everywhere, this is Sunday afternoon (27/10/19) in Stafford.

This was quick process of the RAW file in Photoshop ACR, with slight curve adjustment, some perspective correction and finally crop in Photoshop.  One of the images (not here) i also use some graduate filter adjustment to darken part of the sky.

I would say: try and error and try again 🙂
you wrote 'This was quick process ', forget the quick and invest as much time as necessary to reach the desired picture - if you had a pre visualization, when you shot or start processing.
The Nik Silver Efex is a very good tool, that I use since many years.
Good luck

Fair enough, i would appreciate your view which part of my image you think is lagging. Maybe i have poor vision.

for a starter the sky was clear, except for few obvious clouds, so multitude of fluffy clouds as you illustrate in posts 1238 and 1234 vs 1229 was not an option.  Second, i usually use orange filter or red or yellow but not today, no filter.

Nik Silver Efex, never used it, i thought software key strength is film emulsion simulation. When shooting digital camera I prefer clean digital output.  I also have film camera but haven't put roll of film for the last 4 years, i can live with myself without film most of the time.

the clouds from #1229 are from my cloud stock 🙂 not from the original picture, that you see in #1234 !
The clouds in #1238 are edited with LR and after that with Nik Silver Efex.
Nik Silver Efex is just one part of the whole Nik package and grain and border functions are only a part of it.
Try to find a tutorial about Nik.

Here is the original ooc from #1238
when I see good clouds I get nervous and try to find a good landscape under the clouds :-))
