rob_x2004 Posted October 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got a bulk process only and 35mm films returned rolled round canisters in continuous sleeve. Of course they are rolled hot off the processer and are now 'coils' Any advice on wash again and hang to straighten?

stunsworth Posted October 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 18, 2007 Cut into strips, put in negative sleeves, and put beneath a heavy book for a few days.
R.Morrison Posted October 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 18, 2007 Count yourself lucky; now you have the option to cut them into the lengths you want instead of someone cutting them for you into strips of (ugh) fours. I usually have mine done this way (I'm charged an extra $1.) then I cut them into strips of six which is what most transparent sleeve-sheets are designed to hold. I slide them all into the sheet (most of which are designed to hold 36 frames) and put them in a three-ring binder (most sheets have holes provided for this). By the time I get to the lab I rent time from, they've flattened out in the binder. I use the whole unit (sleeve with neg. strips) to make a contact sheet by placing a piece of plate glass over it. Plate glass is nice and heavy and helps flatten everything out also. Robert Morrison, M4-P, etc.
andybarton Posted October 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 18, 2007 We have a choice of 4 OR 6 negs per strip, sleeves. Luxury.
dpattinson Posted October 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 18, 2007 You can try rolling them in the opposite direction and putting them back in the canisters for a few days, then do the cut and press. I've found that helps a bit. The other, less easy way is to soak them in warmish distilled (or at least filtered) water for a while and then hang them to dry with a wieght as you would after processing. Of course, if you don't have a dust free hanging space that can be a pita. The shower works well enough in most cases.
