Thanks Steve for sharing your experience. Wow, that is more than 3 months without your Leica and it still failed. So what then, did you returned it again to the dealer? It has repair warranty right?

Living in the U.K. with protection of the sales of goods act, I more or less demanded a replacement camera, leaving the dealer with the defective unit.
The shutter of the M240 has a rather sluggish sound to it (difficult to describe unless owning the model), and even today I’m relieved if the exposure completes. As it’s now 7 years old, I don’t want to push my luck any further, so a trade-in may occur shortly.

Its nice that UK have such law and you were able to get new one. Sorry to hear that you had such an experience. Seven year old is a good time to trade-in. The  M10 price just further drop, it'a good upgrade. Thank you again Steve for sharing.

Did you send it to Leica dealer for repair? If yes, did your dealer sent it to Leica New Jersey or to Leica Germany?

Hi Bob, thanks for sharing. You are much closer neighbor, greetings from Illinois. That is quick, almost only 2 months turnaround 🙂

May I ask if you sent your M262 to Leica NJ and they decided to send it to Germany or Leica Germany had asked you to send your M262 to Leica NJ first??

Also, just curious - any problem with your M262 or just for regular check up only?  Thank you again.

Ejkd,

I sent the camera to NJ and they sent it to Germany. I sent it in for CLA and a mirror adjustment. I tried to do a cla and smeared the mirror surface and possibly bumped he mirror as well. A cursory look at it and it seems fine.

A couple of weeks ago i had to send my M10 one more time to Wetlzar.

Had problems before with my second hand M10. They changed some printed circuit the first time. I think i had to wait three month to get my camera back.

Now the same fault appears again, so i shipped the camera back to Wetzlar through my Leicadealer.

 

Last spring i booked an appointment at Leica in Wetzlar for a cla of my Leica M246. They did that while i was in the city, and i was very happy about everything they did.

Patarei...I would love a trip to Wetzlar and to schedule any camera maintenance at the same time. However I live in the USA (as does ejkd) and it's just not an option. It seems regardless of where you are using a Leica Network available to you is a good route to take. Plus there is some accountability when they are involved.

Hello, thanks for sharing. Did Leica Wetzlar did extra special without additional charges?? A friend's buddy got a new top plate for Leica M camera free of charge when he visited Wetzlar for CLA.

Hello, no problem.

No they did not, but the CLA was free of cost, even that i bought the M246 second hand. I did not expect that, so i was very happy.

I got an email from Wetzlar with the servicereport for my M10 i had to send in again.

They couldnt reproduce the error, but they could see error indications in the error report.

They will repair the VSOK printed circuit.

Everything would had costed around 800 dollars in total, but its free of charge because i had to send the camera to Wetzlar a year ago for the same problem.

That's amazing "free of charge". Maybe its a complimentary free of charge since you travel all the way to Wetzlar for CLA. How many days does the CLA work before you got it back in person ???  Thanks.

Hello again, thanks for sharing about your M10 issue. So you send the M10 directly to Wetzlar and not anymore using your Leica Dealer as go in between??
