paulwhm Posted December 31, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello dear fellow enthusiasts, Recently, I picked up a used M10-R from a well known reseller here in Germany. As I used this camera, I started to notice that the left top corner of the display seems to be brighter than the rest, it kind of looks “bleached out”. It is only noticeable when the screen is black or when I live view a very much underexposed image. I can only compare it to my Q2, which has the same display, I think. I do not notice that issue on this camera. Previously I owned a M10 and I cannot remember anything like this. It does not (yet) affect the usability of the camera, but does quite annoy me, regarding the price tag was still high enough. I am keen to know if this is something other M10-R owners can relate? You can check the images I uploaded with this post. Wasn’t that easy to showcase the problem via a photo taken with an iPhone. But it will give you an idea. Happy new year 2023! RMF Posted December 31, 2022 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2022 I’ve seen a LCD screen protector sometime show this effect. Does it have a screen protector on it?
LeicaR10 Posted December 31, 2022 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2022 Paulwhm, First, welcome to the forum. Second, I have seen this once on an associates M10-P. The display was starting to fail and he sent it to Leica for repair. Leica replaced the screen, no charge even though it was a few months out of warranty. Perhaps there was a reason why the camera was sold/traded. Your M10-R might still be under warranty even though its previously owned. Your reseller dealer should help you get this repaired. If not, it might need a trip to Wetzlar just the same. The M10-R is an excellent camera. r/ Mark
M Street Photographer Posted January 1, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2023 (edited) My M10 R doesn't have this problem. I have a protective film on it. I feel sorry for you and I'm sorry to tell you that your display appears to be defective. Is there still a guarantee? If it's a dealer, they have to give you a one-year guarantee on used cameras. Depending on the age, there could also be a factory warranty. The only annoying thing is that if you have to send the camera to Wetzlar, it takes several months to get it back. I would talk to the seller about it and see what he says, but don't say at the beginning of the conversation that you want to return the camera. Maybe he offers it to you. Then they return the M10R, otherwise you should send the camera in for repair. Edited January 1, 2023 by M Street Photographer
panoramer Posted January 9, 2023 Share #5 Posted January 9, 2023 My M10 R and my M10 Monochrom have this problem. But for me this is not critical. As long as the display with touch function does its job, everything is OK. If it breaks at some point in the future, I assume Leica will replace it.
