sfage Posted October 16, 2007 Share #1  Posted October 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I need to send my Digi 2 in for sensor repair. It has been sitting in the camera bag doing nothing for a year. I'm such a slacker  May I please have the address info for the service depot in North America? Is there a particular contact person I should address it to? Is there a particular protocol I need to follow?  Please let me know as soon as you can, I'd like to send it off as soon as possible. doubice Posted October 16, 2007 Share #2  Posted October 16, 2007 Shane,  The information is available on the Leica Camera website however, here goes:  Leica Camera Inc. 1 Pearl Court, Unit A Allendale, NJ 07401-1610 USA  Tel: (800) 222-0188  When I sent my camera in, I sent it to the attention of Robert Fisk and also sent him an email advising of the camera's arrival. Never heard from him........ Repair took 4 months and I had no replies to my two email enquiries.  Reading this thread will enlighten you as to what may await you: ............  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/33551-my-digilux-2-came-home-nj.html  Hopefully, they now have a good supply of replacement sensors in stock.  Best,  Jan
sfage Posted October 21, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 21, 2007 I have heard that one may recieve the new Digi 3 for a price. Unfortunatley, the box was lost when I came back to North America. I have everything "but" the box. Â ... does anyone know if the same deal exists... even if I pay a little more for the absent box? rsolomon Posted October 21, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted October 21, 2007 i don;t see why the box would have anything to do with a leica repair offer.... in the past have sone a repair offer and no box was needed......

It was offered to me and I declined - you can buy the D3's Panasonic equivalent for about US$1,200 and it just did not make sense to me. I had the D2 repaired - took 4 months and I am happy.  Best,  Jan
jrethorst Posted October 22, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted October 22, 2007 if I were to buy a D2 used, and the sensor went bad, would Leica replace it under extended warranty? Or is that only for the original owner?
Scott Packard Posted October 22, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted October 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) By the way, I sent in my Digilux 2 to New Jersey a few weeks ago for the sensor repair. I received a written "repair estimate" a week ago that itemized what they were going to do to repair it (about 5 items, if I remember correctly), that it would cost zero dollars (under extended warranty, but I included a printout from their news archives of their promise to repair the sensors and I asked politely if that would apply to mine also), and an estimate of 4-5 weeks to repair. They didn't make me the Digilux 3 upgrade offer. Â Edit: Just read the other thread where people were promised 4-5 weeks but had to wait 4 months.
