All back to Solms (once more)

Hi,

I am a very happy M8 user for almost a year now. Gear addiction made my lens collection grow, draining my resources. Most recent acquiries where WATE and S’cron75 (both new) and S’lux75, but not without problems.

The WATE was not usable (focus plane not parallel); repair did not help. S’lux repaired for coding and backfocus, returned with backfocus. New S’cron75 came with backfocus and is still in Solms, waiting for camera. Last year, up to 7 other lenses went to Solms at least once and the M8 twice, working great now.

After intervention of the Dutch Leica distributor, it was decided that I best send back the M8 with all lenses for a big final adjustment celebration. A Noctilux just had joined the party, with backfocus, and could be shipped at the same time. I just waved them goodby.

Not complaining but positive thinking: I will have a great set shortly. Waiting with great anticipation...

Lesson learned: fewer lenses means fewer faults (but more is still fun to me)

Conclusion: The M8 is pushing the envelop regarding tolerances in both production and maintenance of lenses. I guess this puts a lot of strain on the respective departments.

Paul,

You really doesn't have much luck with your previous lenses, huh? Maybe you should try Vegas :D?. In total, I bought 8 lenses (three new and 5 used) iand I already sold two of them already. Not a single incident I had any focus issue. Knock 3X. But I don't have that much luck in Vegas though :D..... I am sure you will have a better luck with the next set.
