Hello! I am planning on purchasing a 35 mm lens for the M8... I want to purchase one of the Voigtlander 35's but am having trouble choosing between the Ultron and Nokton. The Nocton is appealing due to the speed, but the Ultron for size. Anyone tried both? Does the additional size of the Nokton impede use? Is it even noticeable? Thanks -rob

The Sean Reid website had tested both. What his article did say was that if he did not get a Leica lens, his next choice could very well be the CV 35mm f/1.7 Aspheric. That would be the one I would buy. I have the 35mm f/2.5 skopar and am happy with it. I have all CV glass.

Hi Rob,

There are good reasons to choose either. The 35 mm lens review (recently updated with a large OOF section) would be worth reading. If you don't mind the bulk and weight of the Nokton, that may be the way to go. But the Ultron, while its lower in contrast, is smaller, lighter and less expensive all while giving up only one stop to the Nokton.

My favorite of the CV 35s is actually the 35/2.5 Skopar.

If you decide on the Ultron, my silver version is for sale. I bought a black one when I learned that they were going out of production.

Cheers,

Sean
