I am a fine art nature photographer (not landscape): I have primarily shot manual focus, for years, using other systems, but tried out the AF on my new SL2 with the APO 50mm Summicron SL on it. The hit rate was extremely high and it got me to thinking that (except for images where I need pinpoint control on a micro area) perhaps I could shoot AF with this set-up. Is anyone else mostly using AF with the SL2/SL2S ?

Hi yes. I find the AFS with SL2 accurate and quick. You might like to experiment with the Spot and Field options.
For fine art nature I imagine that you are using a tripod too.

I would add that for my most critical focus situation, I  have found Spot to be excellent at f/2 even for closely framed half length  available light with models. Spot positioned on models near eye. I would guess that f/2 is atypical for fine art nature?
I have only briefly tried the SL Summilux 50 and was unimpressed personally due to focus operation speed . The AF system especially in the SL Summicrons is a huge leap forward from that.

I use the SL2-S mainly with AFs and iAF and face recognition - so not nature photography. There are times when I jump out of face recognition into Field or Spot AF because of the subject matter - it all depends on the subject I am aiming for and the availability of contrast/edges.

Edit: I should have added that I shoot with both primes and zooms, but it makes no difference to my focusing method.
