CJH Posted October 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry if this issue is in another thread and I've missed it. Can't find anything about it with my searching on "battery stuck" or "battery sticking," however. New M8 arrived today. It's dead out of the box (message in the "Died Again" thread), so I've been removing and reinserting the battery to see if I can bring it to life. Has anyone else experienced problems with the Leica battery getting stuck in the slot? The first time it happened, it took about five minutes of jiggling it with my finger while holding the white button aside and it suddenly popped out. Right now, it's stuck again. I'm used to batteries just popping out when they are released. Thoughts? Thanks! Chris Herbert

sean_reid Posted October 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 13, 2007 The batteries early on (pre-production) were a a bit too large (wrong spec from Ansman) and would get stuck in the camera. It sounds like a few of the wrong batteries got out in production cameras. I'd just ask Leica to swap the battery. Cheers, Sean
bradreiman Posted October 13, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2007 ditto what Sean says-my batteries fly across the room when i hit the little white button if i am not in a catching position
Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 13, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2007 Christopher , Photomark should have them in stock. Maybe run over and buy a extra and send the one you got back to leica for replacement.
CJH Posted October 18, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted October 18, 2007 UPDATE: In case anyone else has the problem down the road, the sticking battery problem seems to be with the body itself, as a new Leica battery did the same thing (but did power the camera up, which the battery that came with the body would not do). Dealer is replacing the camera for me. So, I'm still a few weeks away from formally joining the fold! Chris Herbert

It's a good thing the subject wasn't barefoot.
