Guest tummydoc Posted October 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I apologise if this has been discussed previously but nothing I put in the search function came up with something relevant. Â I have been having a problem with C1 LE since the start but was certain I could find what I was doing wrong...so far unable. I download DNGs to a temporary holding folder on my desktop, then process them into a different folder. When done, upon opening the destination folder, what I've got are 2 identical files for each image, labeled (eg) L1050879.tif and L1050879_1.tif. It's been rather a pain selecting and deleting all the redundant files, so if anyone knows what to un-set to cure this problem, I would very much appreciate it. Advertisement Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Hi Guest tummydoc, Take a look here C1 LE duplicating files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted October 11, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 11, 2007 First question is why are they .tif files if you got them off the M8 SD card? They should have the DNG extension. The only time I have seen images named as .tif files is when using Windows XP and downloading directly from the camera using the USB port. For some reason Win XP doesn't/can't see .DNG files and sees them as .tif files when you have the camera connected directly to the PC. Â Are you using a card reader? What program are you using to copy/move the images from the card to the computer? Â I use either Win-Explorer (Powerdesk actually) or the image downloader program that comes with PS CS3 to copy images from the SD card, inserted in a card reader, to a folder on my HDD. And then point C1 LE, or other RAW image processing program, to that folder.
AlanG Posted October 11, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted October 11, 2007 I have only used C1 Pro. It can output three files for each image. The idea is that they can be different resolutions or types. Could you simply have it set to produce two output files of each image? Â Alternatively, if you process the same file twice without renaming it, you'll get two versions with that type of file numbering.
Guest tummydoc Posted October 11, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted October 11, 2007 First question is why are they .tif files if you got them off the M8 SD card? Â They do come off the SD card as DNGs. I download them to a folder on my computer rather than importing them directly into C1. I open the DNGs in C1 from that folder, then batch-process them into TIFFs which are sent to another folder. That's where I was getting the duplicates. Â The idea is that they can be different resolutions or types. Could you simply have it set to produce two output files of each image? Â Quite possibly, although unintentionally so. How/where could I check to see if that is the case? I don't seem to see where such a parameter can be set. Is it just me or is the HELP function on C1-LE halfway useless? Â BTW, whilst on the subject of C1...I've played around a bit with the profiles...am I the only one who thinks the M8 Generic and M8 Generic UV/IR are horrendously yellow, and the M8 486IR whilst much more colour-neutral is horrendously under-saturated? I've actually been toying with the profile for the Fuji S5 PRO, which to me seems much closer to the mark. What are others using?
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 11, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted October 11, 2007 Vinay, I think this was in a different thread. Â There is a problem that I can't describe, but it has to do with Mac's and LR, I believe. Â These files are the raw and jpg that have been mislabeled. I think I remember the workaround as requiring a different card reader and an upload to a directory. Â Not sure.
AlanG Posted October 11, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted October 11, 2007 Â Quite possibly, although unintentionally so. How/where could I check to see if that is the case? I don't seem to see where such a parameter can be set. Â The Process tab in C1 has tabs at the top that say "Image One", "Image Two", and "Image Three" Each one of these three images can have the check mark for "Enable" - either on or off. If two images are enabled, you'll get the numbering you described. The same numbering sequence will happen if you add the image to the process batch two times. Â Again, I only have C1 pro so I'm not sure if LE is different.
cmb_ Posted October 12, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted October 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am only using C1 Pro so not sure if this is the same in C1 LE. Â To expand upon what AlanG has stated, this may also be a possibility. In the Process Tab, under Batch Editor there are 5 buttons on the left side: Â Â Clicking the first button will process files you have selected in the browser (thumbnails selected) Clicking the second button will add files to a list for Batch Processing. If you add a file to the list, the next 2 buttons become active. The third button is used to delete files, the fourth is used to process the batch after all files have been added. Â If, however, you add a file to the list by clicking the second button, and then click the FIRST button to process the file with the same thumbnail still highlighted in the browser as in the batch list, it will add the file to the list a second time and process it twice, giving you the numbering sequence you described. Â Again, my apologies if LE is different.
