lieberdavid Posted October 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everyone, Â I have a D-Lux 3 and want to shoot RAW. Â I have down loaded Adobe Camera Raw 3.6, unzipped it, and put it into the right place on my hard drive according to the directions on the Leica Website for use with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. Â PROBLEM: But when I open a RAW file, the photo shows, but the RAW editor doesn't. Â Also, I note that in the Photoshop Elements catalog is listed a "missing file" named "Installation_RAW_Plug-in_en-2.tif". It then asks whether to find and reconnect this file or delete it from the catalog. Should this file be in the catalog? Should I do anything? Could this have something to do with my problem? Â Thanks for any help you can give. Â David
Advertisement Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Hi lieberdavid, Take a look here D-Lux 3 Can't Access Raw Editor. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
karlitos Posted October 11, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 11, 2007 Sounds strange, if it was me I would save the downloaded RAW8bi file somewhere (desktop) and re-install the Adobe PE. This doesn't sound like its anything to do with the RAW updater download. Â Karlitos.
stunsworth Posted October 11, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted October 11, 2007 I get a similar thing occasionaly with M8 files on a Mac running CS3 - using the latest version of ACR. If Photoshop has been running for a while I sometimes start to get RAW files opening directly as images rather than opening in the RAW converter. In my case I find closing CS3 and then starting it again solves the problem. It's driving me batty. Â This doesn't happen with CS3 running on a PC using XP. lieberdavid Posted October 12, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted October 12, 2007 Hi Everyone, Â Thanks for the suggestions. I found the solution to the problem. I had been trying to open the picture as soon as I saw it in the Elements photo browser, but it turns out one has to move to the Photoshop Elements editor first and open it there. As soon as I did that the RAW editor window opened up just fine along with the picture. Â Thanks again, David
gesper Posted October 12, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted October 12, 2007 One other option is to run the Dlux RAW file through Adobe's DNG converter (available at the same place you got the updated Camera Raw). Not only does it convert the images to DNG format (which should open in Camera Raw), it cuts the file size in half with no degredation in quality.
