I'm looking to purchase a diopter for my M10 and start shooting without glasses (I can't see the 35 or 28 framelines with my glasses on - I miss my old 0.58x M6). I thought I could get an idea of which value to use by trying out my 020 without glasses, and it looked almost right with the dial turn turned all the way upward for my left eye, and I could not dial in a correction for my right at all. Weirdly, my right eye is only -1 (with more astig), and the left is -2.25 according to OD/OS section of my prescription. If I'm left eye dominant, and the max value of the evf diopter is +/- 3... what does all this mean? Going to a doctor to try out diopters is not going to happen any time soon.

Nevermind. I stopped my local shop, and they had a demo set for trying out. The -3.0 did the trick.

Or you could have stopped by a local optician that stocks free trial diopters.  A good Leica dealer will also ship multiple diopters for trial, with easy return of excess.

Separately, I prefer using glasses that correct for distance and astigmatism (and from sun in bright light), without having to take on and off when using my camera. With aging eyes, I now use a +.5 diopter and my glasses for optimal viewing and focusing; every bit helps. I solved the frame line viewing issue by purchasing top level lenses with thin, flexible frames, allowing me to press closer to the eyepiece. One also learns to judge frame lines over time, in my long M experience.
