lieberdavid Posted October 7, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Everyone, Â I have just bought a D-Lux 3 (my first digital camera) and want to shoot RAW. With the camera came Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. I understand that I have to download a RAW "plug-in" from the Adobe website, apparently "Adobe Camera Raw v. 4.1". But the Adobe website only seems to show v. 4.2 and says further that v 4.2 will not work with Elements 4. Also, on the Adobe website is something called "Adobe DNG Converter". Do I need that? I find the Adobe website information about all this extremely confusing. I have already searched the Leica Camera Forum for help but could not find what I need. Â So, I am appealing to a patient reader who has a little time to help me out. Â 1. Is it correct that I need "Adobe Camera Raw v. 4.1"? 2. Do I need "Adobe DNG Converter"? 3. How do I find the files on the Adobe website? 4. How do I download them? 5. After I download, what then? Do they install automatically? Do they start up within Elements 4 as needed? Â Please, if you reply, give me details. Whoever you are I thank you very much for your time and effort! Â Sincerely, David

rjans Posted October 7, 2007 Share #2  Posted October 7, 2007 David,  1. For the D-Lux3 you could use Adobe Raw 3.6 2. I don't think 3. http://www.adobe.com, support -> updates -> choose adobe raw 4. different versions available, choose the one you want for your operating system 5. look at Leica's website -> compacts -> D-Lux3 -> all downloads. I havent checked now but a short manual (pdf) is normally available how to install Raw plug-in  Best
andybarton Posted October 7, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted October 7, 2007 You should be able to use the very latest Camera Raw as a stand-alone RAW converter, and then use Elements to finish off the file created by that.
lieberdavid Posted October 9, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted October 9, 2007 Hi, Â Thanks for your help. The Adobe web page mentioned on the Leica web site no longer works, but I was able to get around that. Otherwise, the instructions there worked fine. I think I've downloaded what I need now, Â Again, many thanks. David
