jim_royer Posted October 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I downloaded the latest M8 firmware edition to my computer but have not uploaded it into my M8 camera. If I do not install this latest version of firmware, will the next edition include this edition as well as the new changes or will I need to install this edition before others can be install. Maybe my question could have been asked in a different way. Do all firmware editions contain all the data from previous editions plus the new information? Your help will be appreciated. In case you are wondering why I haven't unloaded the version in my discussion, everything seems to be working so well with my camera I didn't see a need to upload the latest version. marknorton Posted October 6, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 6, 2007 Yes, all firmware versions are a complete replacement and can therefore be applied on top of any previous version. There is no need to intall any interim versions. Supposedly, Version 1.20 will be out at the end of November.
Daniel Ortego Posted October 6, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 6, 2007 ...Supposedly, Version 1.20 will be out at the end of November. Hmmm, I wonder how this will blend with those October units with different boards, being released with 1.108. Regards,

marknorton Posted October 6, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 6, 2007 Daniel, you're creating concerns where none should exist. As we have already covered (if you had checked), the firmware structure allows different firmware elements within the UPD file to be loaded according to the hardware levels installed. Based on our current knowledge, the firmware elements are actually unchanged for all hardware levels.

Daniel Ortego Posted October 6, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 6, 2007 Daniel, you're creating concerns where none should exist. As we have already covered (if you had checked)... Thanks, it was intended as just a question and I do appreciate your response. As with the search engine on this forum, well I suppose I have to get use to it since I haven't found it to be very flexible. ~ Everyone is new at some point. barjohn Posted October 7, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 7, 2007 It irritates me that the more frequent updates they promised after the last non-update means once every 4 months instead of once every 4 months?? Over a year to solve problems they should have solved a long time ago.
