midnhtsun Posted November 29, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I just recently sold my canon gear that I haven't used much anymore and got the Q2. I kept my old Canon 430Ex flash since it wasn't worth that much. From toying around with it works with the Q2 in manual but my question is that if I were to get the Godox XProII-L TLL trigger and receiver would the TTL then work? My guess is no that the flash and camera must be compatible but I'm fairly new to this and figured it was worth asking. Thanks for the help.

Anakronox Posted November 29, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2022 An interesting question and one I don’t have a good answer for, but I doubt it would work in TTL that way. The best solution is to pair it with a Godox light that works on its X wireless system, that way the on-camera trigger can set the power output of the light(s) while also talking the same TTL protocol to the Q2. I haven’t tested the new Leica protocol trigger from Godox, but I use their XPro for Nikon and Fuji on my digital Leicas without issue. In manual mode of course, but the output is consistent with what I set on the trigger.
Farrell Gallery Posted November 30, 2022 Share #3 Posted November 30, 2022 (edited) My Godox works fine, though I do all manual, have not tried TTL...the Westcott, the sync-x feature needs to be turned on the trigger, when using with Leica. Off for Fuji. Edited November 30, 2022 by Farrell Gallery
marcus01432 Posted November 30, 2022 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2022 After reading as much as possible I opted to purchase one of the recommended Leica flash units from Japan. I saved about $45 after the $40 shipping fee. Reportedly the Japanese used market takes a degree pride in well maintained and first quality units: flash, lens, or camera. O....I like cream cheese as well 😀....so you can see what I am doing...light fills the room perfectly. luetz Posted December 2, 2022 Share #7 Posted December 2, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) If flash control using TTL and HSS is important to you, get the Leica SF60 and SC-1 Trigger for simple on and off camera flash control. Not inexpensive but an absolute pleasure to use.
BPinLA Posted December 18, 2022 Share #8 Posted December 18, 2022 I tried to Godox too. Finally bought the Leica flash as nothing else offered TTL. Honestly, I don't use it very often, but have been glad to have it on the rare occasion. Mostly use it for fill.
DenverSteve Posted January 18, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 18, 2023 The Godox is not a TTL trigger - with the Leica. Only with the system it is designed for. There are no non-Leica ttl flash/triggers unless they say Leica. At least for the "Leica" made cameras. For your Q2 you need the C1 trigger and a Leica flash. I use the Leica SF60/Leica SF C1 trigger and it/they work great.
