Hello everyone, I just recently sold my canon gear that I haven't used much anymore and got the Q2. I kept my old Canon 430Ex flash since it wasn't worth that much. From toying around with it works with the Q2 in manual but my question is that if I were to get the Godox XProII-L TLL trigger and receiver would the TTL then work? My guess is no that the flash and camera must be compatible but I'm fairly new to this and figured it was worth asking. Thanks for the help.

An interesting question and one I don’t have a good answer for, but I doubt it would work in TTL that way.  The best solution is to pair it with a Godox light that works on its X wireless system, that way the on-camera trigger can set the power output of the light(s) while also talking the same TTL protocol to the Q2. I haven’t tested the new Leica protocol trigger from Godox, but I use their XPro for Nikon and Fuji on my digital Leicas without issue.  In manual mode of course, but the output is consistent with what I set on the trigger.

After reading as much as possible I opted to purchase one of the recommended Leica flash units from Japan. I saved about $45 after the $40 shipping fee. Reportedly the Japanese used market takes a degree pride in well maintained and first quality units: flash, lens, or camera.

This is what I use indoors. Super simple setup. Got this little slave late 80's?..or perhaps early 90s? for ~$20?...

Q2M goes into manual. ISO200-400..speeds 30-250. Guide on the back of the flash plus couple of test shots and I am set.

O....I like cream cheese as well 😀....so you can see what I am doing...light fills the room perfectly.

I remember Soligar, I think I had one in my bag next to my "Sunpack" flash in the 80's. Cool

The Godox is not a TTL trigger - with the Leica. Only with the system it is designed for.  There are no non-Leica ttl flash/triggers unless they say Leica.  At least for the "Leica" made cameras.  For your Q2 you need the C1 trigger and a Leica flash.  I use the Leica SF60/Leica SF C1 trigger and it/they work great.

Godox makes a TTL trigger for Leica and charges more for it.  Prophoto came out with a Leica trigger as well.

From what I read, there is no flash capable of using the trigger. So, from your experience, not goggle magic, what does it trigger?

What you read must be old. Call Adarama and ask and see that it works with their line of Flashpoint products.

Profit's press release Profoto brightens the world of Leica with new Connect Pro where they talk about their partnership with Leica and sell their products in Leica stores.
