GarethC Posted October 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just coded my lenses and mounted the uv/ir filters. Why does the camera not give me the focal length of the lens if the UV/IR cut isn't on the lens? It's like it doesn't recognize that it is coded without the filter. These guys at Leica are smart. Advertisement Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi GarethC, Take a look here A question similar to asking how they put the jam in the doughnut.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sean_reid Posted October 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2007 Is this a WATE? If so, the corrections for the WATE (sans filter) were meant to be general. So they don't vary by focal length and none is shown. Cheers, Sean
GarethC Posted October 4, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 4, 2007 No, I noticed it on a CV Ultron 35/1.
Shootist Posted October 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2007 Never heard of that. The camera has NO idea if the filter is on or off. Something else is amiss.
GarethC Posted October 5, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted October 5, 2007 That's what I thought, but it didn't recognize it as 35mm without the filter and it did with. I'm sticking with my premise that those guys at Leica are smart.
voightL Posted October 5, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2007 That's what I thought, but it didn't recognize it as 35mm without the filter and it did with. GarethC Posted October 5, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted October 5, 2007 nope, the guys at Leica are smart. I want to check it again but some things are just meant to be mysteries so I'm not going to. The Zen of not knowing.
M6J Posted October 5, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 5, 2007 Your coding is probably not perfectly done. So the camera recognizes it some times and some times it doesn't. It just happened to have the filter on or not. How did you do the coding?
Hookeye Posted October 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted October 5, 2007 Gareth, just a thought; are you aware that the filter should go in front of the lens and not between the lens and the housing ?
guy Posted October 5, 2007 Share #11 Posted October 5, 2007 I'm with Sean: your camera and / or lens is possessed. Quick, get a bell, book and candle!* (*warning: candles give best results with f1.4 or faster.)
GarethC Posted October 5, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted October 5, 2007 In reality, Jordan is probably correct but I'm not going to ake the filter off to find out. There are just some things in life we don't need to know I used a Sharpie and then went to the black nail polish solution which now is calling up the WATE on the CV15 and 35mm for the Ultron so all is good. But wouldn't it be funny if I did take off the filters to try it out now.......................
