Advertisement Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi Bill Sievers, Take a look here Summicron 35mm F2 4th generation silver - How much?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ozkar Posted October 5, 2007 Share #22 Posted October 5, 2007 The asking price for a mint 35mm CHROME type IV Like new in box from respectable 2nd hand dealers is around Euro 1500 - 1600. That's the price i paid for mine.....! A black version mint is around Euro 1000.I also have the black asph version (mint) and am not able to sell it for a descent price....it sits here collecting dust ......... i prefer the type IV by a distance! Here are two bokeh examples .. both pictures at f2.0 ....... vignetting in 2nd picture is added in post and is not typical for the lens btw ... Beautiful images! Perhaps I have a less than stellar sample of the ver. IV, but it has never impressed me relative to the ASPH below f4. Incidentally, I purchased my current ver. IV from an ebay seller in Germany for EUR880. It is in absolutely new condition with no signs of use. Do you also find that you prefer the ver. IV oveer the ASPH for colour? Rgds, Ozkar
Philippe D. Posted October 5, 2007 Share #23 Posted October 5, 2007 Ciao Luigi, If it's the one depicted, with bag, box etc... definitely a GOOD price unless surprises on lens conditions (unprobable if the owner has conserved so well the original box...) Did your mother don't tell you ?"Boy, don't look at the packaging, but look at the product inside it." I don't mean i don't take care about my lenses, and cameras, but they are going outside. The boxes stay at the attic. Could leave as new for years!
j. borger Posted October 5, 2007 Share #24 Posted October 5, 2007 Do you also find that you prefer the ver. IV oveer the ASPH for colour? Rgds, Ozkar Ozkar ...... i do not shoot much color ..... but yes i also prefer the version IV for color. Only situation i might prefer the ASPH is in very dim/ low light at f2.0. The Asph is sharper f4.0 and below i agree......... but the IV is sharp enough in all situations for my taste, where i consider the asph often TOO sharp, too contrasty with a very clinical/ digital look. It's a matter of taste .... i prefer the look of pictures with pre-asph lenses in general ....
