lenjh Posted October 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just realized that my Leica 35mm is not showing up in Lightroom under LENS either as 35mm or as 35mm Leica. The metadata for the images shows focal lenth of 35mm but no where is Leica 35MM showing up in the sort panel on the left under Lens? Is this a known issue with LR. Kind Regards, Leoanrdo
Advertisement Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hi lenjh, Take a look here Leica 35mm Cron Not showing up in Lightroomo. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted October 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2007 I think it is the way Leica writes the exif. It is the same with the DMR as well. I may be corrected here, but Leica writes the info into the focal length field, but not the lens field.
M6J Posted October 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 3, 2007 I was wandering the same. It happens with all my Leica lenses, 6 bit or self coded.
colorflow Posted October 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2007 The lens and max aperture are both in the exif but not showing up in LR. Wonder which is willing to change - Leica or Adobe?
robsteve Posted October 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 3, 2007 The lens and max aperture are both in the exif but not showing up in LR. Wonder which is willing to change - Leica or Adobe? Does anybody have the exif specs? Is Lightroom perhaps using the focal length field that a camera using a zoom writes? In other words an as shot focal length, not the actual lens focal lenght? colorflow Posted October 3, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just to clarify. This is only a problem when trying to use the Meta Data Browser in the left panel of LR. i.e. one cannot sort on lens. LR clearly knows the focal length of all Leica lenses in the Meta Data panel on the right hand side as well as under the histogram. To me the bigger problem is LR does not show the max aperture anywhere. Makes it hard to distinguish between Cron, Lux, and Nocti. Alan
robsteve Posted October 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 3, 2007 LR dislays the type of zoom lens in the lens field. e.g. 24-70mm for my Canon lens. Alan: Leica doesn't seem to write something in the correct field. It is the same with the DMR, with a zoom lens, it will show 35-70mm on the info screen of the DMR, but it is not in the proper exif field to show in and image programs. Looks like Leica is writing only into the "as shot" focal length and not the lens field. Alan
lenjh Posted October 3, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted October 3, 2007 All my lenses other than Leica, Nikon, Canon point and shot, all show up, i.e. 70-300 vr,50mm 1.2,etc, but nowhere does it show 35mm (Leica the only 35mm I have). Leonard
grduprey Posted October 4, 2007 Share #11 Posted October 4, 2007 I don't use LR, but do use C1LE, and the lens info shows up in it perfectly fine. gene
