Rob L Posted November 21, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted November 21, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I though I heard something about a recall, or production pause on these. Is there any reason to wait to buy?

Kim Dahl Posted November 21, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted November 21, 2022 I have not heard of any problems ? I just buy and got the 35 APO. I have only had it for 4 days but have not seen any problems yet.
Rob L Posted November 21, 2022 Author Share #3  Posted November 21, 2022 Thanks! I know the very early 50 APO Ms had flare issues that were supposed to be resolved. Perhaps they were recalled and repaired and subsequent units revised?

Perhaps they were recalled and repaired and subsequent units revised? I am pretty sure there's no production pause/recall on 35mm APO because I am receiving mine later this week, and the production date is early November. No idea about the 50 though.
LocalHero1953 Posted November 22, 2022 Share #5 Â Posted November 22, 2022 The 50 Apo Summicron-M veiling flare problem was attributed to internal painting. It was solved by repainting the affected lenses, and improving the paint in new items. Although annoying (and shouldn't have happened) it was easy to fix. I would like to add that this concerned 50 APO lenses from the first production batch many, many years ago (must be 10 years or more), so none of the more recent lenses was or is affected.

wdahab Posted November 22, 2022 Share #9 Â Posted November 22, 2022 I was told by Leica Soho roughly around May (I think) that "no more 35APO would be coming this year to anyone" because of production difficulties. But not for recall reasons, just that they allegedly were having trouble making some of the optical elements. But nonetheless, I got a 35mm from a different US-based AD with a June 23, 2022 production date, received by them in early August. So maybe that was out of date information? Because it sure seems that starting around when I received mine, they started shipping a little more regularly, and I feel like you're seeing a more people getting them in the past 4 months or so. Â Quality-wise, mine is perfect. I'm a bit of a perfection freak, and I do note that the front ring/aperature has just a little slight wiggle that I *know* has nothing to do with image quality but I'll probably want tightened up at some point. But yeah, if you can get your hands on one, it's worth getting.
