un-342 Posted November 21, 2022 Share #1  Posted November 21, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello In the near future Id like to shoot some video with my Leica SL. Since the SL does not have image stabilisation I would very much like a gimbal. So far I found the company zhiyun, that produces a variety of gimbals. Does anybody have some experience with this brand or something like it? Switching to portrait mode, would be a nice feature. All the best UN
Advertisement Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Hi un-342, Take a look here Gimbal for the Leica Sl Type 601. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted November 21, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted November 21, 2022 I have the Zhiyun Weebill S and SL2-S, but I use the gimbal with the Sigma fp and one of the Summicron-SL lenses. I think it would be too heavy for the SL and one of the SL zooms.
wjdrijfhout Posted November 21, 2022 Share #3  Posted November 21, 2022 What lenses will you be using? I have used the SL on a Pilotfly and noticed an interesting Leica design choice. The zoom lenses stick out from under the SL’s bottom plate. So if your gimbal assumes a base-plate running under the lens, perpendicular to the camera-body, this will only work if you add some spacing under the SL (e.g. an L-bracket). Summicron-L’s work just fine.
un-342 Posted November 23, 2022 Author Share #4  Posted November 23, 2022 HI you two. Thanks for the replies. Great Tipp withe the spacing under the SL. Currently I have the 75 Summicron SL and the 50 Summilux SL. Also my research brought me to the DJI Rs3 Gimbal with an electronic zoom function. An alternative would be to build a rig, but then I fear I might get shaky footage. Or even "better" so get a Lumix s5 and use it with the SL glas...
