teehas53 Posted October 4, 2007 Share #22 Posted October 4, 2007 This is very easy - I removed two flanges and sent them to Milich for recessions, and there was absolutely no problem mounting them back on. I see some people issuing warnings about the fact that the lens may somehow become misaligned, but this did not seem to happen to me. I was advised by Zeiss customer service in Germany that the 21 Biogon might require focus re-calibrating (actually, I think it might be re-collimating?) after having the mount changed. This was the case with my lens - infinity focus was off. I had a local Leica repairman fix it, and all is now well. Others on the forum have reported not needing this however - seems to be a case-by-case thing. Robert White are investigating supply of 'correct' mount to enable flame lines and firmware for the 21mm. The mount that's needed is from the 28mm Biogon. This, along with the notches, will allow coding as a 21mm Elmarit Asph (or any other Leica 21, if you prefer different.) I have mine setup as an Elmarit Asph, and it's working quite well. And unless you're dying for a project, just send your mount(s) to John Milich! The work is excellent and reasonably priced, even with cross-Atlantic shipping (he's on the east coast.) cme4brain Posted October 11, 2007 Share #23 Posted October 11, 2007 knock yourself out; on the other hand, I offer the service for $25 with about 1 week turnaround. jm@milich.com I wonder if anyone has had Mr. Milich mill out the flange for a Voigtlander 25mmP lens. There is a screw hole right in line with an infrared sensor. Does the milling of the flange leave the hole there? It must to allow re-attachment of the flange to the lens. I suppose you must just fill in the screw head with paint. Has anyone had this experience?
voightL Posted October 11, 2007 Share #24 Posted October 11, 2007 knock yourself out; on the other hand, I offer the service for $25 with about 1 week turnaround. jm@milich.com John did a great job! I have my ZM mount sent half way round the globe to get it milled by John. Got mine back and it's really easy to replace the mount. Now my ZM21 is coded:) Welcome, dear visitor! Sorry it's out of focus-using P&S camera:D
