Einst_Stein Posted November 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Come back from a trip, found all photos taken by it own Sandisk Extreme (150MB/s) 128GB are not readable. Get Info by Mac says it has 102GB space, BOUT 24BG are used, about 78GB are available. I tried this SDXC in another camera, no problem. Put it back to XV again, shoot, the new photos are still not readable,. I read the SDXC with LRC and Mac Photos. Same. Any similar experiences? Compatibility issue or malfunction? Advertisement Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Hi Einst_Stein, Take a look here XV 128GB SDXC problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted November 20, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) I haven't checked the spec, but I suspect the card is not supported. Did you test it when first bought? Did you see reslts on your LCD? If so, you should have jpeg files. Edited November 20, 2022 by wda
Sho-Bud Posted November 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted November 20, 2022 The X Vario is an "older" camera. Maybe the large size, or the high speed of the newer cards isn't correctly supported. I've only used 64 Gb memory cards in my X Vario, currently I use a 64 Gb Flashair card.
Einst_Stein Posted November 20, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) The camera is dead to save image. All SDs now have the same problem, including 32GB, 64GB. The camera LCD would not playback either. Leica no longer support X series, I have to put it into peace. dkCambridgeshire Posted November 21, 2022 Share #8 Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) Try activating the RESET facility. In the MENU, access USER PROFILE and DEFAULT PROFILE and then SET. This will not reset the Time / Date. And 'Format' a compatible SD HC card in the XV before use. DEFAULT PROFILE can be activated with or without an SD card fitted. Also try changing the battery. Pleased to hear your XV has recovered . Anomaly was likely due to using a non-compatible SD card. Were you able to recover any of the photos from your trip? If not, PhotoRec might be worth a try, using a card reader: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/recover-accidentally-deleted-files-from-any-os-with-photorec-windows-mac-linux/

Thanks. I followed exactly dkCambridgeshire instructed. I used Sandisk 32GB to try the fix. I am not sure yet, but it seemed the camera’s image sequencing function run into trouble. Resetting the image number might be the key. 1
wda Posted November 22, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 22, 2022 Thanks. I am pleased it is solved. The card type was the main culprit, with secondary consequences. The XV is such a capable, yet compact camera. Mine is in use most weeks.

I only use Lexar and Sandisk. I think keep the healthy battery and small SD should be a good practise. And, remember to reset the image sequencing, or reset to default setting once for a while.
