EH21 Posted October 2, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Recently I installed both the upgrade to lightroom and flexcolor 4.71. I used to be able to use lightroom as a great catalog and then convert my critical RAW images in flexcolor which I think is superior - most likely because of the color profiles. Anyhow, now I'm not able to open any files that have been in a lightroom catalog. ???? What's up with that? Anyone have any ideas? Â Thanks, Eric
Advertisement Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hi EH21, Take a look here DMR DNG lightroom/flexcolor question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dspeltz Posted October 2, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 2, 2007 FC will not open DNGs any more. I use both a great deal. Generally, when I import fff files into FC, I will process and save to tiff, and then I use it in lightroom. I avoid saving fffs to dng right off because I lose the ability of FC forever to do its thing.

robsteve Posted October 2, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted October 2, 2007 Yeah but they are DNG when they come out of the camera... Is lightroom changing them? Â Lightroom will only update the DNGs if you set it to update the xmp data. This is stored in the DNG file. Â I notice the latest version of Lightroom has an import as DNG option. If you use this, it is not just copying the files, but doing a DNG import, and if the option is checked, compressing them. This will break the file for Flexcolor as well. Â I just tried a file that was shot last week and imported into my Lightroom Library. It imported into Flexcolor 4.7 without any problem. Â If you are shooting M8 as well as DMR, make sure there are not any M8 files in the same directory as the DMR files. Theses will crash Flexcolor when you try to import DMR files from that directory. Flexcolor will only open the DMR DNG files and will crash if M8 DNG files are in the same directory. Â Is it DMR DNG files that you can no longer open in Flexcolor? If it is, something in your workflow is altering the DNG files before they get to Flexcolor. Â Robert
