karlitos Posted August 17, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, there I was the other day, doing one of those dull bill paying assignments - photographing toilet seats for a local manufacturer with my R9/DMR. Then it struck me -what did the human race do before toilet roll was invented? No one has given me a sensible answer yet, and I need to know! By the way DMR + 100mm APO continues to provide stunning results however dull the subject. Karlitos

stunsworth Posted August 17, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 17, 2006 The Romans used a sponge on a stick - there is some debate as to whether this was a comunal stick or not. I suspect that most people in temperate climates used leaves - a bit tough in winter or in the nordic countries where there are a lot of pine trees! I suspect people in hotter climates did what still sometimes happens in some muslim countries, a squat with a wash with water afterwards. And for those of us in the UK, whoever thought Izal was a good idea!
