Paul_S Posted September 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last week I had the oppertunity to use the Zeiss Sonnar T* 2/85mm ZM on my M8 during a Leica show and like to share this with you. The Dutch Leica/Zeiss distributor just had received his first production copy of the lens. I took 3 different pictures, all with 3 different apertures (f/2.0, 2.8 and 4.0), camera handheld. See the examples at f/2 below. If you like, you can download full resolution images from my iDisk Public Folder. Please note that if you like lens reviews, subscribe to Sean Reid's pages. Advertisement Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Hi Paul_S, Take a look here M8 + Zeiss Sonnar T* 2/85 ZM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted September 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2007 Your focus seems to be off. The more distant right side of the shop pictures seems to be where the focus landed. This lens has lots of colour fringing at f2. Seems to be a generation behind in performance from the current Leica 90mm APO ASPH.

This lens has lots of colour fringing at f2. Seems to be a generation behind in performance from the current Leica 90mm APO ASPH. I had back focussing on all three shots and a hard time color correcting the images (warm and reddish). No competition for S'cron 90AA. Would like it to compare with the latest pre-Asph 90, which you can easily buy second hand today (on eBay at least). Bokeh of the Sonnar is interesting though. Overall disappointing @ f/2 and 2.8 IMHO.
