koiroy Posted September 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just started trying out my brand new M8...downloaded Capture One on my MAC OS 10 laptop...I downloaded to my desktop a file of images shot with the compression set at DNG+JPEG basic. I cannot seem to get the RAW files put into a capture file so I can process them. What am I doing wrong? I can open the JPEG's in Photoshop...but what about the RAW files? Where are they? Any help would be appreciated. RR
Advertisement Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Hi koiroy, Take a look here M8 New User. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
grduprey Posted September 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2007 Are you sure you are not trying to load a jpeg instead of the dng from the m8? also check to make sure you have the M8 profile selected. It should load it with no problem. Unfortunately I use a pc and not the apple, but have used a apple laptop with my M8 and no problems at that time..If you have PS, and the latest raw plug in for it, you should be able to view the dng's and work on them from there also. Good luck. Gene
Shootist Posted September 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2007 Are you downloading FROM the camera using a USB cable connected to the camera? If so go out and buy a SD card reader and copy all the files from the card to your hard drive.
koiroy Posted September 30, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 30, 2007 I do have a reader...I read about that here...the downloads I see are the jpegs...so I'm not sure where the RAW files are....will try again. Thanks for your response.
alexc Posted September 30, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 30, 2007 This is the issue with new ILIFE package. You have to right click on image in iphoto and and use option "show file" this will open original file. If you drop it in photoshop it will open in ACR. Used to be different.
M6J Posted September 30, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 30, 2007 Put the card reader in the USB slot. It will appear on the desktop as -probably- "No name" drive. (If the iphoto opens automatically and asks you to import the photos just close it) Double click on the "No name" drive. It will open and you will see just one folder called "DCIM". Double click it. It opens and inside there is only a folder called probably "100LEICA". Drag this folder on your desktop. When copying finishes eject the card reader. All the files, DNG and JPG are in the folder 100LEICA on your desktop.

Thanks for your response. Yeah as M6J says "Stop" using a image downloader program and use a file management program to LOOK AT and COPY the files from the card to your hard drive. More then likely the version of the image management program you are using, along with the version of OS-X you are using, does not support DNG files so they are not being taken off, copied from, the card. Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 30, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 30, 2007 Best advice is use a simple USB card reader download right to the desktop, than send that folder right to a backup external just for Raw files. You'll never be sorry. than do all work off the desktop folder , than send masters to a different drive. Given the cost of externals there is no excuse not to have two or more. Than you will never have to say, Oh Shit i screwed up
