e-bay: my ONE miserable experience.

Gunner, I am sure Ebay is a good place. I shall give them the benefit of the doubt.

 

But for whatever it is worth or not, as far as I am concerned they might be without integrity

or know the meaning of that word. mind you i use the word ' might ', but just as they

say I too have to be careful that I deal only with people or organisations having

integrity. My one experience with them has given me doubts. If I am proven wrong,

I will be the first to publicly tender an apology and retract my negative comments

about them.

 

I am only a small voice..insignificant to ebay. I have not been dishonest with them, nor had any intentions to be dishonest with their members. I can pay for what i want

from them or from another vendor.

 

I am refuse to be a number from statistics that their computers can 'flag' as suspicious

because of my name or the region i belong to.

 

 

 

James is right. This email is NOT fom ebay. Sorry to hear about your experience and about closing your paypal & ebay account. Ebay is a really good place to buy and sell camera equipment if you are careful and aware of the "traps".

Oh please. The reason I appear so sceptical is because you address your eBay issue as a personal affront. Is your credit card, your mailing address, and your IP address all sourced in the same country - or is each different? You're in Riyadh, yor CC is in London, you're ordering from the US, and having it sent to your address in Los Angeles? That kind of stuff rings bells in an automated system. Yet the implication is that somehow you've been called a thief and a liar, and that it is somehow cultural. I don't know what's up, but I can assure you that it is not some giant plot to annoy people from Arab countries, or non-Western nations... or whatever the implication is of your accusation. Come out and say it, but don't indict everyone here by saying that where you come from you word still means something... what are you saying, that where we come from it doesn't? That we're all a bunch of liars and bigots? The argument and justification of honor is well worn, and well abused. Be careful how you use it, some of us are not novices at parsing diplomatic language.

Please, i never accused you or any person. my problem is with ebay and those that in that organisation that mix up the innocent with the suspicious. you can defend them and do business with ebay. i do not have to, but they did me wrong and they should own up to it and apologize.

 

let's keep individuals and personalities out of it.

 

I request you not to let this degenerate into a clash of culture and all that. I repeat, ebay suspended my membership without giving me a reason.

i feel insulted. I feel i have been wronged. if you are used to such behaviour from others, that is not for me to comment on. I deserve their apology.

It would appear, from the response of one of the forum members, that my posting/s

in this thread have could be construed as accusatory to some individuals or people..singly or collectively.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

 

That impression is totally baseless and is a result of my not communicating

more lucidly.

 

I apologise unreservedly if any of my posting seems to/ or has seemed to suggest

that anyone of you is less honest,honorable,or of lesser integrity than me. I would never

think of ( or ever have thought ) that I am better than anyone of you. And neither

do I believe that people are biased against me based on name,race,gender, religion, height,weight,marital status, number of children, sexual orientation etc.. ( well 99% of the time anyway! ).

 

This post originated because I was suspended from Ebay after my first

ever interaction on their site, Without a any reason being given.

 

Their computer systems ( or other detection systems ) could have flagged my user_id

for some alert based on some alogorithms or experiences. I can understand this.

 

Only I know my intentions. If Ebay could state the reason for suspension, I would

have gladly answered their queries in so far as my bank account,cc, address,etc is concerned.

 

I refuse to accept being treated suspiciously by a company that can cast doubt on

an individual's honesty/integrity without letting the reason be known to that person and to provide

the opportunity to that individual to answer any reasonable queries. Maybe I am more sensitive

to such incidents than others. Could be my genes,color, culture, medication..etc!

 

I once again apologize if my posts have been misconstrued. I am thankful to the

forum members for their help and advice to advance my knowledge of and pleasure

of the leica system. I believe this is an excellent international forum for Leica photography.

 

Sorry for this rant, and this is the last I have to say in this thread, lest I inadvertently

upset anyone else.
