I am in Europe, decided to save space by not taking the M8, and bot a new DLux 3. It worked the one day i tried it at home.

Now when I turn it on, there is NO Image in the LCD viewfinder. The LCD works, as it does show all data on the screen, and the Menu works, but does not display ANY image of what you are looking at or what has been taken, other than the 20 pixs I took before I left.

The shutter releases, but in playback, I see nothing.

I have read the whole manual, but no use, Am I just forgetting something?

Please don't tell me I am here without a camera, except for the 1Mega Pixel, cell phone camera.

Thanks!!!

It doesn't sound good - don't believe there is any 'magic' setting which will fix things. Only positive I can come up with is, that perhaps it's still doing the picture taking, just not able to display the results on screen. Try connecting it to a computer to view the contents of the card.

If that works, with a bit of luck I'd guess you might still be able to continue shooting on your trip.

Hi, I have the exact same problem happening to me. The screen is black and to me it looks like the aperture is at fault as it seems fully closed, obstructing the sensor. Is there any solution/ quick fix to this? OP, how did you fix it? I'm stuck in thailand without a functioning camera:-(

Two years ago my D-Lux 3 displayed the exact same problem. In my case it turns out there was a shutter issue at fault that was common for a limited period of the production run. Leica was great about making the repair with no hassle but it did take several weeks. After what seemed like an eternity, the camera came back and was in perfect working order. I suggest you contact them and let them know of the issue. They came forth with the problem when I called -- WHAT company does that these days? Despite the inconvenience I was pleased with the repair and the service experienced along the way.

In case you're wondering this is what happened in my case ...

1. For no reason the camera started giving me a black screen after taking a shot one day. Turned it off and on a few times then let it sit for a few hours. Fired up and was able to shoot a few frames without issue.

2. Repeat #1 for three days.

3. Call Leica. No worries return and service.

4. Camera back, making beautiful pictures again.
