jank Posted August 16, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is one annoying problem with almost all digital cameras I guess. It is a preset, eg. prefocusing, or setting to hyperfocal distance that makes camera really ready for virtually instant shooting. One can preset it as desired, but after some relatively short time all cameras go to sleep I would call it "dead mode" to save power. When repowered they should return to the last preset mode - being it focusing distance, Fstop, or shutter speed ( the one before auto shut-down).This way by the time one gets camera to shooting position it is ready or almost ready. I wonder how does it work on DMR or any other more advanced digital camera. Jan

doubice Posted August 17, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2006 Jan, If I leave my Digilux 2 on manual settings (focus, aperture and shutter speed), it will re-start at those settings. If I leave the exposure on full auto, but the focus on manual, it will re-start exactly as when it shut itself off. A DMR basically works the same way, just leave the camera set to the manual setting you are using and it will power up the same way. Really not an issue with those two cameras, but would be one with digital cameras without a true manual focus capability. All the best, Another Jan
fredrik Posted August 17, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 17, 2006 DMR work as for film (since the sensor is replacing the film, no more) and yes it has a sleep mode. Press the shutter releas and and it wakes up. Regards
