mjh Posted September 28, 2007 Share #21 Posted September 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why does it take longer to do this task when the picture is "darker?" That is, I notice that the slower the shutter speek (when I have the cap on, of course), the longer the time to correct for noise (in the black picture). Capturing the dark frame has to take exactly as long as capturing the image itself, so it takes twice the selected exposure time plus the time for the actual hotpixel removal. lars_bergquist Posted September 28, 2007 Share #22 Posted September 28, 2007 You could have a metal multiblade shutter as quiet as that of an M7. BUT it would have to move as slowly as the classical Barnack cloth shutter, and flash sync would be 1/50th ... Still, there should be room for improvement. mjh Posted September 28, 2007 Share #23 Posted September 28, 2007 The firing noise shouldn't necessarily be any louder than on any other M, I wouldn't think -- but it is. That’s the downside of replacing the old shutter curtains made of rubberized fabric by state-of-the-art metal shutter blades.
