tbarker13 Posted September 26, 2007 Share #21 Posted September 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think most of my film Ms were black. But when I bought the M8, I just couldn't pass up the Silver. I don't know about stealth, but I will say that virtually every comment I get about the camera runs along these lines: "Hey, my (father, grandfather, uncle, etc) used to use a camera just like that one." People are generally surprised to learn it is digital. Perhaps the reaction would be the same with a black body. I'm not sure. I do know one thing though. The silver body looks great with black or chrome lenses. I've just never been able to appreciate the look of a chrome lens on a black body.

carstenw Posted September 26, 2007 Share #23 Posted September 26, 2007 I find it really nice too. I own a chrome M8 and mostly black lenses, but it is not because of the look of a black M8 with chrome lenses.
miami91 Posted September 26, 2007 Share #24 Posted September 26, 2007 I liked that line someone said you can get any Ferrari you want as long as it is red. LOL The original quote was from Henry Ford, who when speaking of the Model T, said "the customer can have any color he wants, so long as it's black". I believe I read once that this limitation was due to assembly line considerations --- cheaper and more efficient to do just one color. In this regard, since most of us take great pride in the hand-craftsmanship of our Leica Ms (the antithesis of mass produced homogeneity), we should value the fact that Leica gives us at least two choices in color (or more, if one does "a la carte" for an analogue model).
