It doesn't control them at all, nor does any camera control the aperture of any M lens. You just need to use the aperture ring. The aperture value isn't transmitted either, though the camera can guesstimate it with an appropriate lens profile selected and record it in the exif data. But it can still meter the exposure by the amount of light coming through the lens.

Spot on. Nokton Classic 1,2 are tiny, vintage-look-creating lenses for a relatively low price. The focus barrel goes way beyond Infinity, a thing to be aware of. Good value if you want to keep your SL2/S light for street or similar photography. At full aperture, it shows some glow and is quite soft. But at f 2-2,8 this changes.
