Willockboy Posted October 30, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted October 30, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm uncertain about how the SL2-S controls a modern Voigtlander M lens. Can the SL2-S read the lens aperture (or set it)? Obviously, it is a manual focus lens only. Any help will be appreciated.
Advertisement Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Hi Willockboy, Take a look here Voigtlander M lenses with the SL2-S. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Anbaric Posted October 30, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted October 30, 2022 It doesn't control them at all, nor does any camera control the aperture of any M lens. You just need to use the aperture ring. The aperture value isn't transmitted either, though the camera can guesstimate it with an appropriate lens profile selected and record it in the exif data. But it can still meter the exposure by the amount of light coming through the lens.

Willockboy Posted November 1, 2022 Author Share #4 Â Posted November 1, 2022 Artin Thank you for your response, which is reassuring. I've read quite a few reviews about the Voigtlander M lenses, especially the 40mm Nokton f1.2 lens (Leica Review), and everyone comments on the build quality and, for the most part, the image quality. Your Exif data will normally be inaccurate but the image quality is great and they feel nice on the SL2/s. Just pick the closest focal and F stop from the List in the menus and you are good to go Spot on. Nokton Classic 1,2 are tiny, vintage-look-creating lenses for a relatively low price. The focus barrel goes way beyond Infinity, a thing to be aware of. Good value if you want to keep your SL2/S light for street or similar photography. At full aperture, it shows some glow and is quite soft. But at f 2-2,8 this changes.
